Matt 7:24-27 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

People put a lot of stock in old sayings. For example, yesterday was a beautiful day here in PA, bright, sunny, highs about 30 degrees above normal, March came in like a lamb. So what do we expect?” We expect March to go out like a lion. Another old saying that most put stock in, red sky at night sailor’s delight, red sky in the morning sailor’s warning. We put stock in old sayings much of the time and many times they are proved to be right. Why not the sayings of Jesus, why are they so often ignored? “Ye must be born again” is one most people ignore. Their family, good intentions, good works, or church will take them to heaven, but they don’t need Jesus. “Seek ye first the kingdom of God” is another. Most people seek the wealth of the world over the wealth of heaven. If old sayings are mostly true, and they come from men, why not the sayings of Christ, of God? One would be better off following the sayings of Christ, obeying His Word, living our lives after His sayings, than all the old sayings of this world.
