Another test of love is disappointment. Now we should never be disappointed with God, disappointed with the Lord Jesus Christ. We may not understand all that God is doing or why, but we should never be disappointed with God and His dealings with us. We can trust the Lord our God to do all things well and to work for our good, we can trust the Lord. Yet how many times do I give God reason to be disappointed with me? The book of Hosea is a true account of one given to love another who constantly disappointed him and it is as well an illustration of how Israel has disappointed Jehovah over and over again. Yet through it all God continues to love His chosen people. That is a great comfort to me as I know I disappoint the Lord many times over each day. Yet in know that He loves me, will always be mine, and will never, never leave me or forsake me, I have His Word on that. If that is true of my relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ shouldn’t I then be able to forgive and love those who disappoint me? People we love and trust will at times disappoint us, but we should never stop loving them. Even if things come to the point that we must separate on Biblical grounds we should never stop loving, never stop praying for those ones. How many times has your love stood up to the test of disappointment, or have it ever been that strong? God’s love for us stands up to disappointment.
