2 John 6-8 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.
7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.
KJV
What is the test of love? We can say we have love, say we love many things. I love my wife, love my children, love my grandchildren, I can say those things. But what is the test of love? For my wife it was and is faithfulness, am I faithful to her? For my children it was time, did I spend time with them? For my grandchildren it is example, what type of example am I for them? We can say we love, but do we show that love, do our words stand up to the test? Do you love Jesus today? What is the test of that love? With Valentines Day approaching I want to look at the test of love, our love for the Lord. The first thing we see today is obedience. (Verse 6) There are many who claim to love Jesus who have no regard for His Word, those ones one deceivers. (Verse 7) But who are they fooling? Not Jesus, certainly not those who look at the testimony of their lives. So who are they fooling, who are they deceiving? Mostly themselves and perhaps a few simple people. The first test of our love for Jesus is obedience to His Word. Jesus said “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” Just how much do you love Him today? What is we replayed the past week, put it up on a screen for all to see? Would your actions show that you loved Jesus? What of the things people could not see, what of your heart? Would the things you hold in your heart show your love for Jesus?
