Deut 1:31-33 And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that the Lord thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place.
32 Yet in this thing ye did not believe the Lord your God,
33 Who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tents in, in fire by night, to shew you by what way ye should go, and in a cloud by day.
KJV
Who would you have go before you in this New Year? It is fitting that we have a covering of new fallen snow here at our house this morning. I as look out there are no tracks in the snow, no path to be seen, yet there is a way that must be taken. Now I know where to go and what to do because that way has been tried and proved before, I am not lost because I cannot see where to go. It is an illustration of following the Lord in this New Year. I do not know what even this day will hold let alone tomorrow and the year ahead of me, yet I do know this, I know there is one going before me to search out a place for me, a place to rest, and showing me the path that I am to follow. If only Israel had followed the Lord instead of doubting and turning away. As I look at the snow this morning I know that even if I cannot see it there is a path to follow and I know that there is one who is leading me upon the unseen path before me as we enter a New Year together. Who do you want to lead you in 2016?
