This is what is called the “Christmas season”. Did you know that the primary reason Jesus Christ came into this world was because of the season we find in our Scripture reading this morning? There is a time to be born and a time to die. (Verse 2) Jesus Christ did many things during is first advent as He fulfilled prophecy, gave men a glimpse of the Father, healed the sick and raised the dead. But none of those come close to Him answering the problem of sin and conquering death and the grave with His sacrificial death on the cross, with His shedding His own blood for our sin, and then coming forth alive from the tomb. That is the reason for this season and we need to point that out to people. I hope as you read this today that you are saved but I hope as well that many who are lost read it as well and begin to think perhaps for the first time that Jesus Christ came into this world for a specific purpose, to die for sinners, and that cause some to repent and turn to Him. I was born again during the Christmas season and it has been because of that a very special time for me. More than decorating and exchanging gifts it is a time for me to remember why He came and to thank Jesus and Jesus Christ alone for my salvation.
