December 15th, 2015 by Pastor SolleyJohn 4:1-6 When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,
2 (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)
3 He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee.
4 And he must needs go through Samaria.
5 Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6 Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.

The preacher spoke last evening on Jacob’s well, about how something Jacob dug about 2,000 years before was used by God to give rest and refreshment to Jesus and then bring a lost sinner to Christ. One seldom thinks about a work done in the present being used by God generations later, but that is what we see in John 4. We do need to remember that our work in the Lord and for the Lord is not and is never in vain for if God is in it then God will use it. There are times when every Christian gets weary, weary with the world, weary with life, weary with the fight. But we must continue to serve and labor for the Lord. Who knows except for God is what we do now may be used long after we are gone for God’s glory and the saving of souls.
