2 Cor 8:8-9 I speak not by commandment, but by occasion of the forwardness of others, and to prove the sincerity of your love.
9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.
KJV
The context of this passage speaks of giving, but it is not your pocketbook that I am concerned with this morning, it is your heat. What did Jesus Christ give for us? The Bible says that He was rich, yet for us became poor. What money did Jesus give, how much was the amount? Jesus Christ gave no money, Jesus Christ gave Himself. This passage speaks more of commitment than it does anything else as Jesus gave His all. More than your money, more than your tithe, more than anything else you have to offer, Christ wants your all, Christ wants you commitment to Him. Without that your giving, my giving will amount to little. I may give all my money to the poor, tithe 90% to the church, but without my heart commitment to the Lord what good will it do me? Lord willing I will speak on commitment on Sunday but for today and tomorrow in this devotion please think about your commitment to Him. Jesus can and does speak to giving, but to the giving of self and heart to Him before anything else.
