James 4:1-7 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?
2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
5 Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?
6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

I remember reading about the assault of Germany upon Poland in the beginning of what would become WWII, how that the German army with all its tanks, air support and ground troops went through Poland without any real resistance, they overran the nation with massive losses inflected upon the Polish people and army. This passage of Scripture reminds me of that when I think of how little resistance people give to Satan today. Satan is running roughshod over the world, our nation, and the professing church today without any real resistance. Want to prove that to be true? When was the last time you turned off the TV when the actors began to use the name of the Lord in vain? When did you switch the channel when the program began to show the homosexual in a good light, or mock and make fun of the Christian? When was the last time you turned you eyes away from the nudity that prevails in our society today? When did you stop keeping company with the drunkard or those who cannot keep from profanity? These things we accept as normal behavior today when they are not, and why do we do that? Because Satan has overrun us and we offer him little or no resistance. Look for ways that Satan stands before you today and begin to resist him. If we do that don’t be surprised that he flees from you.
