16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
KJV
All this week we have looked at bring thankful. My question is, are you? As a minister I tend to deal with people who are not always thankful, not talking now about anyone in our church. Last year at Thanksgiving I took a truck load of food and paper products to a home in our area where there was a great need. There were no strings attached and we did it just as service for the Lord, please understand that there was nothing expected from that family. But there was also no word of thanks given and I thought that would have been appropriate. Have we gotten so used to being given things, of feeling entitled as a society that we are thankful for nothing? Don’t get that was before God my friend. Our God gives us above and beyond what we need, far beyond. He answers us when we pray, stands beside us each day, and welcomes us back when we stray. Do we ever say thanks to Him? We tend to get very specific in prayer when we need something, do we ever get specific when we thank Him in prayer, or do we thank Him at all.
