10 And the Lord spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.

There are times in a Christian’s life, although it should not be so, that we need to be brought low before we look up and give thanks. Jonah had to look up from the belly of the great fish in order to give thanks unto God. Now none of us have ever been in the belly of a whale as Jonah was, but perhaps like Jonah we have from time to time forgotten to give thanks unto God for all that He has done for us and for opportunities to serve Him. Jonah knew the Lord, was a prophet of the Lord, had been commissioned to serve the Lord. But it is not until Jonah is in the belly of the fish that we hear him giving thanks to the Lord. I am not saying Jonah never was thankful before that time, but at that time Jonah had to be brought low before he would look up and give thanks. Might it be from time to time God allows things in our lives to bring us low so we will look up and give Him thanks? In my life I know that has been true and with that in mind let us always be thankful unto our God, even for the times we need to look up to give thanks.
