Matt 22:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.
KJV
A simple statement made by Jesus concerning the Sadducees, they did not know the Scriptures. The main problem with that group of people was they did not give themselves to the Word of God. While they had the Bible and had a head knowledge of it, they did not have a relationship with the one who wrote it. Many are like that today, knowing parts of the Bible, going through the trappings of religion, but never having a relationship with the God of the Bible, with the Lord Jesus Christ. I talk with people all of the time that claim they will go to heaven, but when asked why the answers they give do not point to the one who can save them from sin and hell. “I go to church” is a claim that many make. The Bible does tell us to go to church (Heb 10:25) but nowhere does the Bible tell us that church will save us. “I have been baptized and take communion” is another claim. Both have been given to the New Testament church, baptism and communion, but neither brings salvation according to the Bible. Many err because they do not know the Bible and the reason they do not know the Bible is they have no relationship with the one who wrote it. Be sure you do not err not knowing the Scriptures, be sure you know Jesus Christ.
