1 Peter 1:18
18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
KJV
One must consider in redemption what is to be bought back. At one time I had a 1972 Dodge Charger. I really liked that car but when we started building our house I need a truck to haul building materials so I sold the car. For that car I would have paid more than I sold it for to get it back after we were finished building. You need to consider what is being redeemed, is it worth it, is it worth the price. We are being redeemed by God, redeemed by Christ, being bought back. Have you ever stopped to think if you are worth it or not? Consider what the Bible says about us apart from our redeemer. (Isa 64:6
6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. ; Rom 3:10-18
10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
13 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:
14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:
15 Their feet are swift to shed blood:
16 Destruction and misery are in their ways:
17 And the way of peace have they not known:
18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.
Tell me what we are worth, what price would you pay even for yourself when you see yourself through the eyes of a Holy God? Yet there was a price paid.
