31 And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.
32 And they departed into a desert place by ship privately.
There is an old saying “Come apart from time to time or you will come apart”. Even the disciples as they labored with the Lord needed a time to come apart, needed a time to rest. This world has made so many so busy that they have no time to rest, people are always doing something. Baseball, football, soccer, school, clubs, work, people are always busy. There is nothing wrong with those things, I like sports, but there comes a time when people need to just quiet their lives a rest. However that rest should never be apart from the Lord. The disciples when they went apart went with Jesus, we never need a break from the Lord for He is our rest. I will be away from my desk for a time but I will try and publish a devotional while we I am away. There are times when I have trouble with my lap top because of its age but I will try. The best rest we can find is rest with Jesus, time in His Word, time to meditate, time to pray, time to just rest with Him. Too many people when they go on vacation take a vacation from Jesus as well and that is a huge mistake. When we try and rest apart from Him there is no rest. Come apart from time to time so you don’t come apart, but never depart from Jesus.
