I am not sure how far medicine had progressed in Solomon’s day but even then they knew the importance of a sound heart. Heart trouble will stop the strongest of people and even as medicine has advanced to where it is now a person needs a sound heart to function. I wonder how many lives have been saved because of bypass surgeries, stints, caths and so on and so forth. When there is trouble with the heart physically it needs taken care of or death is coming. The same thing applies spiritually. (Prov 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.) The heart is the most important thing spiritually as well. We may do a lot of things to take care of our heart physically, diets, exercise, doctor appointments, and the like and we need to do that. But do we do the simplest of things to take care of our heart spiritually? Do you read your Bible daily, seek God daily? Are you going to a good Bible believing church? Do you look away when evil is before you, walk away from sin, separate from the world? Do you do that which is good for your heart?
