Prov 1:1-5 The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;
2 To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;
3 To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;
4 To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.
5 A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

While the wicked and foolish despise instruction, the wise man will hear and desire instruction. The wise man will look at instruction as more valuable than gold. (Prov 8:10
Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.) Why? Because instruction from God is more valuable than gold or silver, instruction from God leads one to eternal life, to rewards, to a more abundant life. That is why the Bible tells us to refuse instruction is to despise your soul. (Prov 15:32 He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding.) But if you want wisdom for life you will hear God’s instructions and follow them. (Prov 15:33 The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.) How are you with instruction? I see in preaching all the time people have trouble with instruction. I see the blank stare, the face turned down or the eyes out the window, I see people who have problems with instructions. It is not by chance that those same ones have many problems with their lives. How are you with instructions?
