James 1:12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
Rev 2:10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

Perhaps the hardest of the crown to win the crown of life is found two places in the Bible. Some think that one has to give his life to win this crown because of the reference in Revelation. But we find in James that one must endure temptation until the end. In others words one must be faithful until the end of their life, one must finish well. As a pastor I have watched as many run the race well for the Lord only to quit before the finish line, they fail to finish well. I know many a pastor that has fallen out of the race, many a Christian who has turned away from the Lord, many who have not finished well. It may be that we are called to die for the Lord as the Apostle Paul did and this crown in won. It may also be that we must be faithful until the end of a long life in the Lord to win this crown. Be faithful and finish well.
