28 And they answered, John the Baptist: but some say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets.
29 And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.
This is a rather important question that Jesus asked the disciples, “Whom do men say that I am”, followed by “Whom say ye that I am?” A question with very different answers. Even then men were not willing to accept who Jesus Christ is, some calling Him John the Baptist, others a prophet from the Old Testament, some called Him a rabbi, a master, but few would call Him the Son of God, few would call Him the savior, few would call Him Messiah. Nothing has changed today as people still will not acknowledge Jesus as the Christ of God, the very Son of God, God in the flesh who paid the price for our sin on the cross. Jesus was a good man, a wondering man, a loving man, a compassionate man, one and one they go and while all those things are true of Jesus, none touch on what is most important about Him, none touch on what we must know about Him. But Peter and the others knew, Jesus is the Christ, He has the words of eternal life, and to Him we must go, before Him we must bow the knee and repent, it is Him and Him alone we must call upon for forgiveness of sin and salvation. How do you answer this question today?
