Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Most of the time we take “Power” for granted until we are without it. Yesterday as a result of the storms that went through our area we were without electricity, without power for about twelve hours. Every time I would walk into a room I would turn on the light switch, but of course no light would come on. I wanted to work on a building I am constructing, but no power to run the saw. Last night I could not read, no power for lights. Could not make coffee, no hot water, many things I do without thinking I could not do. There is a spiritual application as well, how many things do we take for granted spiritually? We get up, go about our business, go to work, go to school, come home, relax, spend time with family and then go to bed. I wonder how many times do you stop and just talk to the Lord thanking Him for allowing you the health to get up, the strength to work, the ability to play, the food you have, the car, the house and so on? Do you realize that it is only by the power of God we live and breath? It is only by the power of God that we are not consumed by Satan, by the world, even by our own flesh. Do you ever stop to thank Him for those things, or do you take them fro granted. At about 9:50PM last evening every light in our house came on and power was restored. I am thankful that God has not removed His power for what could we ever do without it?
