June 19th, 2015 by Pastor SolleyJohn 18:4-7 Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye?
5 They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them.
6 As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.
7 Then asked he them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.
Jesus asked this question of those who came to arrest Him in the garden while He prayed just hours before the cross. By their reaction we see they were not ready for who they found. This reminds me of the many who supposedly seek Jesus Christ today as they file into dead churches who do not preach the gospel, as they give themselves to the doctrines of devils and men instead of the doctrine of God. Of the many who claim they seek Jesus on their own, that they can worship God just as easily along a stream, or in the woods or even the golf course, they don’t need church, don’t need the Bible, need nothing but themselves and their own beliefs. How many on the judgment day will find a Jesus that they did not expect? How many will fall backward to the ground, not in adoration and worship, but in fear a trembling just as those ones did in the garden? Are you seeking Jesus today? Are you ready to find Him today?
