Prov 18:9 He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.

What is it that this man, this slothful man wastes, why is it that he is a great waster? Because he wastes time. Years ago I was working in a factory running a die casting machine. I was new on the job but had been trained and was on my own, the man having trained me had moved on to another job in the factory. One day I had to change the “Die” to run another part, the job was a big one and it took me about two hours. I then ran the part order and when finished went to the foreman to pick up the next order. He told me to keep at changing the die and finish the order I was given that morning. When I told him the die was changed and the order was finished he couldn’t believe it. The man who had trained me had convinced the foreman that changing a die in the machine took 8 – 10 hours, not 2. He did this so he could have an easy day, but it was costing the company money and productivity. That man was a great waster. Ever stop and think of how much time we waste during a day? Time that could be given to the Lord, given to serving the Lord, given to prayer, given to reading the Bible. We often wonder why the Lord seems to be doing so little today, few people getting saved, little spiritual growth, churches seeming to be spinning in place, and the answer to that is right in front of us. For the most part, people who are to be serving the Lord, are great wasters and it is hurting the Lord’s work. What do I gain when I waste my time? Nothing is gained, but much is lost.
