Rom 5:1-9 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

The greatest demonstration of love is found in Jesus Christ and the cross. As we have looked at ;loving as Jesus loved all this week let us consider the cross this morning as the supreme example of love set before us. “While we were yet sinners”, let that thought sink in this morning. Many Christians act as if they somehow were and are deserving of the love of Christ. Many act as if they did God a great favor by receiving His free gift of salvation in Christ. Remember what we are and were before Christ saved us. (Matt 15:18-20 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: 20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.) That was and is your heart as well as mine so please don’t tell me how deserving we were of salvation. God loved us and loves us still even with that type of heart, God was willing to forgive us because Jesus died for us, and why? Because He loved us. Let that sink in today, what you were, what you are, and how much Jesus Christ loves you and me. Then let that love be our goal, not to be deserving of it, but to allow it to govern our lives.
