2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
“For what the law could not do”. How many are the ways that people try and break the bonds of sin, escape the eternal fires of hell? “For what the law could not do”. The laws of man, the laws of nature can never free that bound sinner. The law of good works, of good intentions, of sincerity, of family or friends, they can never break the bonds of sin, they cannot change the eternal place of punishment for sinful man. But the law of Christ can, the law of Jesus can, the cross can change all of that. I have a funeral this morning for a wonderful lady, one loved by all she came in contact with, a woman of good works, of helps, a good wife, mother and grandmother. When I conduct the service all sitting there will expect me to place her in heaven but that is something I cannot do. None of those things saved her or condemned her, “For what the law could not do”. Now this dear lady was a born again believer, she repented of sin many, many years ago and called on Jesus Christ to save her, and He did. That law and that law alone, the lat of the Spirit of life in Christ is the reason she is in heaven today. I cannot place her there, but Jesus did.
