And the children of Israel set forward, and pitched in the plains of Moab on this side Jordan by Jericho.
2 And Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites.
3 And Moab was sore afraid of the people, because they were many: and Moab was distressed because of the children of Israel.
Why are the lost so distressed over the children of God? Moab was distressed because of Israel and to this point nothing had been done beside God delivering Israel, God leading Israel, God blessing Israel. What did that have to do with Moab, why did it distress Moab so? The answer lies in the lost being influenced by Satan, being filled with Satan and not Christ. There is a battle going on between Satan and God that we are all a part of and those who stand on the side of God through salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ are hated by those who stand on the side of Satan. No person is a noncombatant in this fight, those lost in sin are on the side of Satan and there is a hatred for the redeemed in Christ on their part. It is a hatred that is seen in nations as governments do all they can to erase the name of Jesus Christ from society. Look at our government today as they do all they can to separate Christ from it as if it would hurt our government to have the blessings of God because of Christian leadership. It is a hatred found in families, in every fabric of society, and what has the Christian done? Nothing but being washed by the blood of the Lamb of God. An even bigger crime against unbelief is trying to share your faith with them. A Christian needs to understand that his or her very presence is a distress to unbelief.
