February 12th, 2015 by Pastor Solley1 Sam 1:27-28 For this child I prayed; and the Lord hath given me my petition which I asked of him:
28 Therefore also I have lent him to the Lord; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the Lord. And he worshipped the Lord there.
The importance of bring children to the Lord can certainly be seen in Samuel. The “He” in verse 28 is Samuel, a boy around the age of 5 – 8 years old. Notice that he already was one who could in truth worship the Lord. Our young people of today hardly know who the Lord is by their teen years and many of them, have already by that age entered into a life of sin and are found walking a pathway to destruction. But Samuel, he worshipped the Lord. That not only because he was brought to the Lord by his parents, especially his mother, but because she did not play games with God, religion, or church as so many do today. People today bring their children to church on Sunday morning and then live as it church, the Bible, and the Lord matters little for the other six days of the week. Children not only need to be brought to the Lord, the Lord needs to be brought into the home and their lives on a day to day basis. The Bible needs to be read in the home, the Bible needs to be lived in the home, children need to be brought and need it brought to them as well. Samuel was left with Eli, but he was given to the Lord and the Lord given to him long before that. Don’t wait until it is too late to bring the young ones to the Lord, many a life will be spared.
