January 13th, 2015 by Pastor SolleyPs 1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
Yesterday we saw that the blessed man is one who seeks counsel from the right people, from the right places. (Verses 1 – 2) This morning we take notice of his or her delight.
(Verse 2) It is the Law of the Lord, it is the Word of God. Some people think that if they could just talk to God, just hear from him, that they would be able to make better decisions, if they could just hear the voice of God. Well they can and we can as well. We hear the voice of God today through His Word, we talk to Him in prayer, we find the way of God for us when we meditate upon the things of God, not sometimes, but all the time. There are so many voices, so much noise today, that we often ignore that which we need the most, time apart and alone with the Lord each day. The Bible says that this man, his delight is in the law of the Lord. That which he needs the most he takes the time to receive. My friend, we need the Word of God today and we need to hear the voice of God today. But let me ask you, how much time will you spend reading your Bible today, in prayer today, and in meditation, thinking about what you read and prayed? Most will spend far more time watching TV, posting on face book, listening to the wrong music, than they will talking with and hearing from God. There are too many voices in our ears today. Force yourself, like this preacher has to do, to read the Bible, to pray, and to think upon the things of God. This is a key to happiness for the Christian.
