December 16th, 2014 by Pastor SolleyPs 12 Help, Lord; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.
2 They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.
3 The Lord shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things:
4 Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?
5 For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the Lord; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.
6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
7 Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
8 The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.
It does seem at times that the “Godly man ceaseth” today does it not? That there are few if any who will stand up for truth and right, that the world and sin not only have the upper hand but victory secured as well. With all that goes on about us this is a conclusion that is easy to come to, “The Godly man ceaseth”. Yet we must consider the rest of this Psalm. There is coming a time that God will prevail over the ungodly, over Satan and sin. Notice verses 3 and 4. The Lord will rise up in judgment and deliver His children, notice verse 5. Take heart Christian for it is the Word of God that is pure, the Word of God that has been tried, the Word of God that will endure. When we stand upon His Word the same things can be said in truth of us. Never allow it t be said of you that the “Godly man ceaseth”.
