September 16th, 2014 by Pastor SolleyPs 1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
How hopeless are the lost today, how hopeless are those apart from Christ, how far away are they from verse 3 of our text? Not far at all according to the standards of the world. The richest men in this world, the most powerful, the most popular, the most influential do not know Christ, are lost in sin far from God and seem to be so very successful. Yet what are they depending upon, what are they resting upon? Jobs can be lost, positions can be lost, money can be lost all in a moment of time and that leaves shattered lives. Even those who do not loose those things have no real peace or joy within. The high rate of suicide among seemingly successful people prove that. What did all the money and fame bring to Robin Williams? Notice verse 4 above. The ungodly, the lost have no foundation in life, nothing to be secure in, no solid ground. Those tings, the things we really need are found only in the Lord. Where is your foundation today?
