Peter 3:1-6 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.
Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:
Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.

There are few mothers who stand out in the Bible, Mary of course, Hannah is another, and there are many others as well. Sara here is held up as an example for mothers and wives. When I look at her life she becomes a wonder to me and a blessing as well. There are three words in these verses that point out to me what a wife and mother should be and needs to be today. In verse 5 above we find these words, “Trusted in God”. That is what made Sara and so many others stand out in the Bible. Some of them we are not even told their names, yet they trusted in God and God blessed not only them but their homes and their children as well. As Mother’s Day approaches stop and think of the blessed example a mother and wife is who trusts in God, who trusts in the Lord and walks always in His ways. One of the things I hold so dear to my heart today is the many times I would see my mother sitting, reading her Bible, and in prayer. My own mother has been gone many years now, yet I can still see her in my mind’s eye, as clear as if it is happening right now, reading her Bible and praying. Ladies I hope that your husband, your children, see in you one who trusts in the Lord.
