Ps 119:18-20 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.
19 I am a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandments from me.
20 My soul breaketh for the longing that it hath unto thy judgments at all times.

The Word of God serves to remind the Christian that we are not of this world. (Verse 19) As the song goes, “This world is not my home, I’m just a passing through, my treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue”. What better reminder of this than the Bible, to spend time in the Bible is to spend time with the Lord, to spend time in the Bible is to spend time outside this world, to spend time in the Bible is to spend time in the heavenly throne room with the one who gave us His Word. If we are in His Word our eyes will be able to behold the wondrous things of God and even if we do not understand all things, which we will not, we will be equipped to better trust in his care, better equipped to walk in His will and even desire His will for our lives. In verse 20 we see the heart of the psalmist breaking and longing for the Word and the ways of God. In order to live above this world we need to be living in his Word.
