Deut 33:24-27 And of Asher he said, Let Asher be blessed with children; let him be acceptable to his brethren, and let him dip his foot in oil.
25 Thy shoes shall be iron and brass; and as thy days, so shall thy strength be.
26 There is none like unto the God of Jeshurun, who rideth upon the heaven in thy help, and in his excellency on the sky.
27 The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them.

We have before us the prophecy that Asher will have to wear shoes of iron and brass. To say the least these type shoes would be very uncomfortable, hard to walk in. It indicates a difficult path to follow as they would walk after and serve the Lord. A life in this world, even a life lived for Christ will not be an easy one, there will be times when we must put on iron shoes. But as soon as the prophecy was given three great promises follow. That we will have strength for the day. (Verse 25) That our God will ride upon the heaven to help us. (Verse 26) And that we will be held up by His everlasting arms. (Verse 27) No place in the Bible are we told that as Christians there will be complete freedom for us from the troubles of this world. I do believe that God saves and spares us from more than we will ever know this side of heaven, but we still are touched by the troubles and trial of life. That is not what God is doing to us, that is what sin had done to this world. At those times when we must put on our iron shoes we need to remember where our strength lies, who rides to help us, and who it is that holds us up.
