April 22nd, 2014 by Pastor SolleyDeut 33:24-27 And of Asher he said, Let Asher be blessed with children; let him be acceptable to his brethren, and let him dip his foot in oil.
25 Thy shoes shall be iron and brass; and as thy days, so shall thy strength be.
26 There is none like unto the God of Jeshurun, who rideth upon the heaven in thy help, and in his excellency on the sky.
27 The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them.
Deut 33 is a record of the final blessing of Moses to the tribes of Israel just before the death of Moses. When addressing the tribe of Asher Moses tells them that their shoes would be made of iron and brass. (Deut 33:25) Think of that for a moment, what is Moses telling them? Shoes made of iron and brass would be very uncomfortable, would make walking very difficult and painful. So it is with life at times, even life walking with the Lord. This world is filled with pain and heartache, sickness and disappointment, discouragement and tears, and no one is exempt from any or all of those things. I have not researched all that happened to the tribe of Asher, but I know there were difficult times ahead, they had shoes made of iron and brass, shoes that would make walking difficult. So it will be with us at times, life will be difficult, walking will be painful. What are they and we to do? Along with the prophecy of iron and brass shoes came some special promises, three of them, that would make walking possible in the Lord. We will look at those three promises beginning tomorrow. Today, if life is difficult, rest assured that God knows what it is like for you to try and walk in shoes made of iron and brass.
