Luke 22:67-71 Art thou the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe:
68 And if I also ask you, ye will not answer me, nor let me go.
69 Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God.
70 Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am.
71 And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.

The claim that outraged the unbelievers in His day was that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Take note that believe or not they would not let Jesus go. (Verse 68) We see the same thing today in that people can be outraged by the preaching of the true gospel message, by the preaching that Jesus Christ is the one and only way to heaven, that all must come to Him in repentance for forgiveness of sin and true salvation. Tell that to the ones working their way to heaven, to those depending upon a church to get to heaven and they become angry. Tell that to the indifferent and they get angry as well. Not only will they not believe, they will not let the Christian alone, will not let the gospel alone, they will fight against it, fight against Christ, just as they would not let Jesus alone. If one will not believe, if they deny Christ, why not then just walk away and leave things alone? Because that is not the way of Satan, Satan needs to fight against the gospel and we see that in the way unbelief fights against Christ.
