It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.
Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
When was it that children stopped being a heritage and became excess baggage to people? The family in America is not even a shadow of what it once was and what God intends it to be. Broken homes, kids with two different sets of parents, some not knowing who dad or mom is at all, abused, abandoned, not loved. The divorce rate is going down in America because couples no longer marry causing children that much more confusion and heartache down the line. Abortion lies at the root of all of this because if you can murder a child in the womb of the mother; why would anyone look upon a little one as a heritage? There was an item in our local paper last evening about a murder 25 years ago, a teen killed his brother and then three other people. At the time he was living at home with his girlfriend, his mother and stepfather, his brother and his girlfriend and their son as well, all in the same house, all what many consider a family today. I have always had a spot in my heart for this young man, not excusing what he did, but because of the home he was brought up in and living in. How true that our young people today have little hope, it is because of way they are viewed, more trouble than they are worth.
