April 4th, 2014 by Pastor Solley2 Tim 1:6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
Matt 9:37-38 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;
38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
Another reason to stir up the gift is because of the need of salvation. There is a harvest that could be brought in, the time is short, and there is a need to labor for the Lord. As we look at the nearness of His return our hearts should break over the lost in this world. Sadly, for most Christians, there is unconcern for the lost. We worry and pray over our family, but even with family most Christians never say a word for Christ, never take the time to share the gospel while all around us people are dying and going to hell. Yesterday I had the opportunity to talk to three people about the Lord, about salvation. One was and remains lost, one not sure, and one is born again. I don’t know how the others received the message of salvation other than that they listened, I don’t know what they will do with Jesus Christ, and they don’t need this preacher to get saved. But I do know the Word of God never returns void, it will and does bring conviction to the Lord, they do not have a decision to make. Christians, this is what we need to do, what we need to remember, there is a harvest and we are to labor in the field. We need to stir up the gift in us before it is too late, before the time of harvest is over.
