March 20th, 2014 by Pastor SolleyGal 6:1-7 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. 2 Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. 3 For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. 4 But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. 5 For every man shall bear his own burden. 6 Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. 7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
I know some people, Christians, who have had physical trials, or emotional trials, have suffered some heartache or setback. They have said that no one from the church called them, checked on them, offered to help them, as a result they stopped going to church. Yet looking back; when others in the church were in need they did the very same thing. They never sent a card, never stopped to see them and offer encouragement, never called, never offered to help. Was it any wonder then that no one offered to help them? We read Gal. 6:7 and apply it to sin in the life of the believer because of verse 8, and that is not wrong, that is a correct application. But there are other applications as well. If I want to have a friend I must show myself friendly, if I want people to care about me I must care about people, if I want people to help me I must be a help to others. Why is that we look for things in others that we do not demand in ourselves. Burden bearing is a part of the Christian life and so is bearing the burdens of others. What we want others to be for us we need to be for them.
