Gal 6:1-2 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. 2 Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

Why are so few Christians interested in helping others today, in restoring those who have tripped or fallen in their spiritual walk? One reason is the lives most Christians choose to live themselves. I can’t help someone get their house in order when mine isn’t. I can’t encourage someone to pray and be in the Bible if I am not a person of prayer, if I am not a given to the Word of God. I can’t take someone to Scripture if I am not familiar with Scripture. I can’t encourage someone to be in church if I am not there when the doors are open. I can’t help someone if I am not living as a child of God is supposed to live. That I think the number one problem today, Christians do not have their own house in order. We all know someone this morning in need of a helping hand, in need of being lifted up spiritually, but are we in a position to help them? Only if our house is in order. Remember what Jesus said? (Matt 7:3-5 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? 5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.) After we get our house in order we can be a help to others in need.
