Ps 116:12-16 What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits toward me? 13 I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord. 14 I will pay my vows unto the Lord now in the presence of all his people. 15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. 16 O Lord, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds.

I have been thinking much lately of how difficult it is to say goodbye to those we love in this world. Even short separations are hard but how much harder when we are separated by death. Yet as hard as it is for us to let go, to say goodbye on this side of eternity, how easy is it for them to say hello on the other side if they know Jesus Christ as their personal savior. The Bible says that for a Christian death is a precious thing. (Verse 15) When I have lost loved ones I flee to this passage and meditate upon this truth, how easy it must have been for them to say hello on the other side. Death is never a welcome event on this side of eternity, and it is never welcome for the lost, for those outside of Christ. But for the Christian, for the redeemed in sight it is a graduation day, it is a precious day, it is a day when the bonds of life are taken off and a day that is precious to them.
