Here in our reading we find that Jesus was a man of sorrows. Ever wonder to what extent and if that has ever changed? Jesus was a man of sorrows in the way He was treated and rejected, but it goes much deeper than that. We see Jesus weeping at the grave of Lazarus, we see His compassion as He spoke to the woman at the well, we see His concern for Mary at the cross, we see His tender voice of forgiveness with Peter. Jesus was a man with an oft broken heart because Jesus had a heart for man. When His children wept, Jesus wept, when they went through difficult trials Jesus went through them as well, Jesus gave His heart to man and as a result became a man of sorrows. That has not changed because Jesus changes not. Still today as Jesus sits on the right hand of the Father in heaven He remains a man of sorrows. When we hurt Jesus hurts, when we are broken hearted the heart of Jesus is breaking as well. There is great joy in this truth for the child of God for we never suffer alone, we never go through trials alone for Jesus stands with us. We may not think of it as often as we should but when we have a broken heart the heart of God is broken as well in heaven and He stands with us at all times.
