Matt 12:35-37 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. 36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. 37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

How often do you think about what you say, about the words that come out of your mouth? Most of the time people give little thought to what they say, who they say it about, or the harm or help those words may be. As a Pastor I bring about 200 messages a year, plus teaching in the Bible Institute, plus speaking at nursing homes, plus visitation door to door, plus meeting people in the areas I volunteer for the area hospital, plus counseling opportunities an so on. It is amazing to me that people expect me to remember every word I have ever said, even going back over 25 years at times. Yet God does remember every word we say, God records them, and one day we will give an account for them. That is a sobering thought is it not? What have I said that has hindered someone in coming to the Lord, in their Christian walk, what have I said that has helped someone find Jesus Christ, that has helped them in their Christian walk. Our words mean something, your words mean something. No wonder we are given an entire chapter in the Bible that deals with the tongue. (James 3) Think about what you say today, about the words that come out of your mouth, one day you will give an account for them.
