Daily Devotions
February 14th, 2014 by Pastor Solley1 John 1:3-4 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. 4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
One more thing that hinders fellowship, fellowship with God as well as fellowship with believers in Christ. Laziness. Some people are just lazy. To walk in fellowship with God will take some work and discipline. Reading your Bible everyday, prayer, being separate from the world, all this takes work and discipline. The same thing to walk in fellowship with believers, it takes being in the house of God, being involved in the work of the Lord, taking part with other believers in serving the Lord. Most people who go to church today do nothing beside that. They are not involved in anything the church does, do not attend any special service, do not attend and dinners, they just are part of the pew on Sunday, after that little or nothing. That is just laziness. It does take effort to attend more than one service a week, to help clean the church, to help with building projects, to go out door to door, to make a dish and attend a supper, all these things do require effort, work and discipline. People give it to other things as they join sports booster clubs, band boosters as their kids are growing up, fund raisers for all the different things they kids do, follow them to event after event, get them to practice and what not. But be involved in the work and service for the Lord and they have no time and give no effort. What is the problem? When it comes to what God says is important in our lives they are just lazy.
