Daily Devotions
February 5th, 2014 by Pastor SolleyPs 147:11-18 The Lord taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy. 12 Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem; praise thy God, O Zion. 13 For he hath strengthened the bars of thy gates; he hath blessed thy children within thee. 14 He maketh peace in thy borders, and filleth thee with the finest of the wheat. 15 He sendeth forth his commandment upon earth: his word runneth very swiftly. 16 He giveth snow like wool: he scattereth the hoarfrost like ashes. 17 He casteth forth his ice like morsels: who can stand before his cold? 18 He sendeth out his word, and melteth them: he causeth his wind to blow, and the waters flow.
The Lord is sending out more snow here is PA this morning. (Verse 16) But it will soon be melted, can’t stay cold all year, so that is the good news I will think about while shoveling this morning. I am also thinking about the heart of man, how cold it can be toward the things of God, and how that heart as well can be melted. (Verse 18) Recently in visitation I have witnessed the heart of man melted by the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. In January two people, one in their 70’s and one in their 90’ repented from sin and asked Jesus Christ to forgive and save them. God, His Spirit, His Son, and His Word can melt a cold heart. Then I was also talking to an individual who stated that they were lost, that they would not go to heaven, and that they didn’t care. This one did invite me back to talk to them again and this morning in this devotional I am asking for prayer, pray that God would melt the coldness of that heart toward Him. I will visit them again and just now am wondering over the truth of His Word, He can melt that heart.
