John 12:46-48 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness. 47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. 48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
Here we are in the last day of 2013. Folks that are older like myself never thought we would see this day. I was saved in 1968 and all my life it seems I have heard of the soon return of the Lord. During the 70’s I never thought I would finish high school and go to college, never get married and have a family, the Lord would return before any of that. During the 80’s I never thought I would see my children grow up and move on, the Lord would come before any of that. During the 90’s I never thought I would see the church growing and moving forward as it has, never see the generation before me passing from the scene, the Lord would come before that. Now we stand ready to welcome in 2014 and we continue to look for the return of the Lord Jesus Christ for His church, still look for the rapture. This much is true, always has been and always will be, Jesus Christ is coming and coming soon, but coming in the Father’s time, not ours. One thing to remember is that Jesus is still seeking the lost, still drawing all sinners to Himself, still giving all an opportunity to repent and come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Jesus said that He would draw all unto Himself. (Jn 12:32) That all men and women would have the opportunity to be saved, that all would come under conviction of the sin by the Holy Spirit of God, that He would draw all. Jesus also said that whosoever believeth, that whosoever can be saved, that whosoever can receive Him. Salvation is not limited to a few chosen by God, salvation is available to all, that is what Jesus said. Why do things continue, why are we ready to welcome a New Year? Because lost souls are still coming to Jesus Christ, all still can be saved and all still need to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ.
