1 Thess 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

What is the will of God here? Is it that we give thanks, or is everything that is happening around us the will of God? The question becomes deeper as we consider the world we are living in. Many of the things we see in America are not the will of God, abortion, homosexuality, murder, these things are not the will of God as God does not promote sin. How could I be thankful for those things. Even the things in the life of the Christian are not all of the will of God. Sin in our lives, bad thought, lust, envy, neglect of what we should be doing, these are not the will of God. So what is the will of God from 1 Thess 5:18? That we be a thankful people, at all times. We do have much to be thankful for, able to get up in the morning, a place to live, something to eat, warm clothes, family, church, the Bible, prayer, we have much to be thankful for. Just the other day I heard one saying they had nothing to be thankful for. That person has eyes on self and not eyes on the Lord. We all have something for which to give thanks this morning and it is the will of God that we do so.
