November 8th, 2013 by Pastor SolleyEph 4:11-15 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: 14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
What is your part in the ministry, in the work of the church. Some very visible parts are found in these verses, apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers are named, visible parts in the ministry of the church and the work of the Lord. But there is another important part that is often overlooked in these verses, that being the born again believer in Christ who is growing in the Lord and faithfully serving in the local church. Notice the edifying of the body, the unity of the body, the stability of the body, the speech of the body and the growth of the body found in these verses. Not all can be a pastor or evangelist, not all can be a missionary, but all can grow in the Lord, all can contribute to the body, all can speak for Christ, all can do something for the Lord. Just because you have not been called to a visible office in the work of the Lord does not mean you have not been called to an important office. I would say that those who make up the body are the most important part of the work of the Lord, the ministry of the church. What part do you have?
