Matt 12:36-37 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. 37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

The Bible has a lot to say about our words and our speech. (Col 4:6 Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.; Titus 2:1 But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:; Eph 4:29 29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.) Those are but three verses of many. We also find that our tongue is a very hard member of our body to tame in James chapter three. Why does the Bible have so much to say about our speech? Because words carry a great deal of weight, much more than our actions many times. All of have said things we wish we could take back, but once something is out of our mouth we can never “Unsay” it. Our words uttered in anger hurt, utter without thought hurt, our words can hurt more than a weapon in our hands. So Jesus warns us that one day we will be held accountable for the words that come out of our moth. Even every idle word will be recorded by God. Be careful how you speak today, think about what you say.
