Matt 12:33-35 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit. 34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. 35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

Jesus here gives us a test for faith, the heart of man, out of an evil heart comes good things, out of a good heart comes good. Why is this a test of faith. First consider the heart of man, of every man. – (Matt 15:18-20 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: 20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.; Jer 17:9
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?) These verses show us the heart of man and if a man’s heart is wicked, if all these vile things are in the heart of man, and they are because the Bible states it, then how can a good thing come out of a man, out of the heart of man? Because of what takes place within when one is born again. (Rom 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.) When Jesus Christ enters into a heat, when a person is born again, saved by the blood of Christ, the heart is changed. We still have the old nature but there is one who has taken up residence within and as we yield to Him He will take over our heart.
(1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.)
Jesus gives us a test of faith, the good or evil that comes forth from a man is an evidence of the condition of His heart. What is coming out of your heart today?
