Ps 100 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. 2 Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. 3 Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. 5 For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

There are some simple command given in this Psalm. Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, serve the Lord with gladness, come before His presence, know the Lord is God, enter into His gates, be thankful, and bless Him. These are straight forward, easy to understand, and they should be easy to follow. Yet even the Christian at times has a difficult time obeying these commands. In this world in which we live there are many things that seem to take away our gladness, it is at times hard to be thankful for all things and hard to raise a voice in praise. But that should not be so and especially in the lives of God’s children. We do have much to praise Him for today, much to be glad about. We have salvation in Jesus Christ, we have a home in heaven, we have one that will never forsake us, one that has promised to provide for us and one who knows our every need. In the darkest of times we need only to stop and count our blessings and we will find ourselves entering into His gates with thanksgiving and praise.
