August 30th, 2013 by Pastor Solley1 Sam 25:1 And Samuel died; and all the Israelites were gathered together, and lamented him, and buried him in his house at Ramah. And David arose, and went down to the wilderness of Paran.
This little boy who was prayed for and brought to the temple, who lived a life of service for the Lord had died. Samuel lived a long and productive life in service to his God. He saw the end of one age and the beginning of another, the age of the judges and the age of the kings. He anointed two kings, Saul and David. Above all Samuel was faithful, faithful to the Lord when few in Israel wanted to be the same. Whatever God gave him to do, the message to Eli, the anointing of Saul, Samuel did without question, he was faithful. That is not to say he had an easy life, he had the same troubles and trials that we all do, the natural things of this life, and then the things brought on by Satan as we serve the Lord. But if we could ask Samuel if it was worth it, what would his answer be? His answer would be yes. Life may be filled with troubles and trials but life is always better when it is filled with Jesus as well and Samuel filled his life with the Lord. We remember him today because of his faithfulness, a faithfulness that brought him great reward in heaven.
