The best way to win the race of the Christian life, (Heb 12:1-2) is to run in a straight path, to make a straight path for your feet. Years ago when coaching young people on the high school level we would have them run sprints. It was amazing how many would run looking down at their feet and as they would do this they would weave back and forth on the way to the finish line. They would never go far out of line, but back and forth they would go alone the way. I would tell them that needed to look to the finish, pick a point out and run to that point in a straight line, they knew where the ground was, where their feet were, so look to the finish and run in a straight line. In our Christian life we need to go on a straight path and the best way to do that is to keep your eyes on the finish line, keep your eyes on Christ. Don’t allow sin to allow you to weave to the left, the flesh to weave you to the right, selfish desires to weave you back to the left, disobedience to move you again, keep your eyes on the prize, keep your eyes on Jesus Christ.
