Rev 2:4-5 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
Rev 2:16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
Rev 2:21-22 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.
22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.
Rev 3:3 3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
Rev 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
Most people look at repentance as a matter for the lost, but notice the last times the word repent is used in the Bible it is directed toward churches. Repentance is an ongoing thing in the life of the child of God. No, we are not repenting over and over again to salvation. Once we are truly saved, born again, we need not take that step again. But in our daily walk with God, as the Holy Spirit convicts of sin in the life of the redeemed, that sin needs to be turned over to God, needs to be turned away from, needs to be repented of. After the sin of David he did not need to be saved again, but did need to repent, turn it over to God. After Peter denied the Lord, cursed the name of Jesus, he did not need to be saved again, but he did need to repent, turn it over to God. There are things in the lives of God’s children that we need to turn away from. Reformation, taking matters into our hands will not do it. That is why many times over the believer in Christ will feel remorse over sin, pledge to never do it again, and fall to the very same thing. What we need to do is repent, turn it over to God and He will give the power to turn away from it through the Holy Spirit of God within. Repentance is vital in salvation and in walking with the Lord as well.
